One of the easiest paradigms to grasp is Eric Bern's "Parent, Child, Adult."  Here, he talks about the managing parts of the personality and how they behave.  You can loosely translate the elements of client, healer and caregiver as shown follows: client - child, parent - caregiver, adult - healer.

Sigmund Freud's "Ego, Id and Superego"

Obviously, I am oversimplifying here, but loosely equated we have the id as the client, ego as the caregiver, and super ego as the healer.

John-Roger's "Basic Self, Conscious Self, and High Self"

In the "Dynamics of the Three Selves," John-Roger explains how the Basic Self is the one who perspires and does the work, the Conscious Self is the one who gets from A to B, and the High Self is the one who is connected with our spiritual plan.
